Norwood is a town of roughly 31,000 built around two of the busiest commercial corridors in Norfolk County: Route 1, home to the famous Automile auto-dealer strip, and Washington Street (Route 1A), which runs through Norwood Center. Add I-95 along the town’s edge, the office and industrial parks off University Avenue, and Moderna’s major manufacturing campus, and Norwood generates a steady stream of car crashes, premises injuries, and workplace accidents. Shea Culgin Law represents Norwood residents in all of them.
Our office is at 1350 Belmont Street, Suite 109, Brockton, MA 02301 — a straightforward drive from Norwood via Route 27 or I-95 and Route 24, typically about 25 minutes. Robert Shea and Joseph Culgin have spent more than 20 years representing injured people across Norfolk and Plymouth Counties, and Norwood claims come through our door regularly.
Where Norwood Cases Are Decided
- Dedham District Court, 631 High Street, Dedham, is Norwood’s district court, serving Dedham, Dover, Medfield, Needham, Norwood, Wellesley, and Westwood. Smaller injury suits and small claims arising in Norwood are filed here.
- Norfolk County Superior Court, also in Dedham, hears the serious injury and wrongful death cases — and it is only about ten minutes up Route 1 from Norwood Center.
- Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA) — Norwood workers’ compensation disputes proceed through the DIA’s administrative system, not the courts.

Norwood FAQ
Norwood Hospital is still closed. Where are injured people taken?
Norwood Hospital was evacuated after catastrophic flooding in June 2020 and never reopened; Steward Health Care’s bankruptcy halted the rebuild, and as of 2026 the rebuilt shell sits without an operator. Norwood ambulances now transport patients to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham, to Boston Medical Center – South (the former Good Samaritan Medical Center) in Brockton, or to Boston hospitals. The longer transport does not affect your legal rights — every mile of that ambulance ride is part of your claim.
Will my case be heard in Norwood?
No — Norwood has no courthouse. District court matters go to Dedham District Court, and major injury or wrongful death suits are filed in Norfolk County Superior Court in Dedham. Workers’ comp claims go to the DIA. We handle the venue logistics; most clients never need to set foot in a courtroom.
Do you charge for the first meeting?
Never. Consultations are free, by phone or in person, and injury cases are handled on contingency — no fee unless we recover for you.
